Psychology

Psychology is both an academic and applied discipline that examines human behavior and mental processes through scientific methods. It relies on empirical data to understand, explain, and predict individual behavior.

The Psychology Department at Fenerbahçe University offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary curriculum that combines theoretical foundations with applied learning. The program thoroughly covers the major fields of psychological practice, as well as key theoretical and methodological approaches in the discipline.

Our primary goal is to educate qualified psychologists who uphold ethical values and possess a strong understanding of behavioral and cognitive processes including lifelong development, learning, motivation, emotion, perception, intelligence, cognition, social behavior, attitudes, and personality.

Psychologists assess psychological problems and behavioral disorders in individuals by considering biological, behavioral, and social factors. They also take an active role in the prevention of such problems, the promotion of healthy behaviors, and the enhancement of overall quality of life.

Throughout their studies, our students develop the skills needed to analyze the variables influencing human behavior and mental functions, to identify disorders within these processes, and to implement appropriate interventions.

Fenerbahçe University, in collaboration with Medicana Health Group, offers internship opportunities that provide students with valuable practical experience. These internships help students clarify their career goals and support their orientation toward sub-specialization areas. In doing so, the program contributes meaningfully to the growing national demand for qualified professionals in the field.

At the conclusion of their undergraduate education, students consolidate the knowledge and skills they have acquired by preparing a graduation project under the supervision of a faculty member. This process enables them to explore their career interests and specialize in their chosen area of focus.

Thanks to strong institutional partnerships, particularly with Fenerbahçe Sports Club, students also gain exposure to a variety of professional environments and develop practical experience. In addition, our internationally diverse academic staff encourages students to engage with scientific literature and participate in academic conferences.

The Department of Psychology offers a wide array of courses, including Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Personality, Neuroscience and Behavior, Applied Statistics, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Perception, Attention, and Learning. The program equips students with a well-rounded understanding of human behavior while fostering both qualitative and quantitative research competencies.

Graduates of the program are well-prepared to work in a range of settings, including public institutions such as hospitals, psychiatric clinics, schools, rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, kindergartens, and dormitories, as well as in the private sector and industry.
