Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fatma Kanca; International Relations Director, Mustafa Kemal Yeğen; TÖMER Director, Lecturer Egemen Ozan Sönmez; and Specialist Açelya Sungur from the International Relations Directorate attended the 20th Eurasian Higher Education Summit 2025 (EURIE), organized for the 10th time this year in Istanbul by the Eurasian Universities Association (EURAS), with the participation of Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education.
Özvar, along with Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, delivered the opening speeches. Özvar underscored that EURIE is a vital platform for global dialogue and cooperation. He discussed how institutions can strengthen and sustain their relationships in higher education, focusing on issues such as accessibility, inclusion, and quality in education. Minister Kadir remarked that international cooperation in higher education is essential for progress. Other distinguished speakers at the summit included Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, EURAS & EURIE President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, British Council Global President Martin Hope, NAFSA CEO Dr. Fanta Aw, TIM President Mustafa Gültepe, and ITO President Şekib Avdagiç.
While our university held meetings with representatives of institutions from countries such as Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, and Romania during the summit to expand international cooperation, our TÖMER Manager, Lecturer Ozan Sönmez, together with FBU TÖMER academics Asst. Prof. Dr. Jülide Erken, Lecturer Tuba Kıraç, Lecturer Dilay Ceren Çelik, and Lecturer İlayda Özkaya, participated in the panel titled “Internationalization in Education: The Future of Turkish.”
