Coordinated by the Science Communication Office of the Council of Higher Education, the first Science Café events in Turkey were held on June 27–28 with the participation of over 150 universities across 81 provinces.
As part of these nationwide activities, Fenerbahçe University organized a talk titled 'The Story of Medicine: From the Laboratory to the Pharmacy' at Metropol Istanbul on Friday, June 27. In this session, Prof. Dr. İlkay Küçükgüzel, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, shared with the public the long and meticulous journey of a medicine from scientific research to pharmacy shelves. Prof. Dr. Gülay Öztürk, Dean of the Faculty of Communication, moderated the event, guided the audience's questions, and ensured an engaging and interactive discussion.
In addition to external participants, our Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Kanca and Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ş. Güniz Küçükgüzel and Prof. Dr. M. Yıldırım Üçtuğ also attended the event, which contributed to making the knowledge generated by universities more understandable and accessible to society, and to increasing public trust in science through Science Café events and science communication efforts.
