The International Zero Waste Forum, organized jointly by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Zero Waste Foundation, with the participation of Emine Erdoğan, Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation, was held in Istanbul between October 17-19, 2025.

The event, co-organized by the Zero Waste Foundation, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and UN-Habitat, brought together participants from 104 countries, 118 international partner organizations, mayors, ambassadors, and senior representatives from international institutions such as the UN, UN-Habitat, UNEP, and UNDP.

During the forum, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), emphasized that YÖK prioritizes establishing new university programs to train qualified human resources in areas such as green transformation, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Fenerbahçe University was represented at the forum by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Mehdiyev, from the Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
