In today’s globalized economy, competition among national and international companies is more intense than ever. To stay ahead, organizations must optimize their production processes, business operations, and decision-making systems through automation. Automation enhances speed, reduces costs, improves customer satisfaction, and enables companies to make informed decisions based on real-time and predictive data.
The core mission of the Department of Management Information Systems is to train professionals capable of developing and managing these automation processes. This requires a strong foundation in both computer science and business. For example, while an internet-based automation system is essential for purchasing airline tickets, business acumen is necessary to ensure profitability through effective financial planning and product-oriented marketing strategies.
Our department offers a four-year undergraduate program conducted entirely in English. The curriculum integrates computer science with business administration and allows students to specialize in areas such as:
Our program is specifically designed to provide students with both the technical expertise and communication skills essential for becoming successful entrepreneurs or innovative professionals in the digital economy.
For the 2021–2022 academic year, the department has a quota of 60 students, half of whom are offered 50% scholarships.
Thanks to its academic staff and curriculum, the Department of Management Information Systems at Fenerbahçe University provides students with a strong foundation in computer science while allowing them to specialize in various sub-fields. In addition to the intensive academic program, students benefit from opportunities such as ERASMUS exchange, double major (DMP), and minor programs.
While the Department of Computer Engineering primarily focuses on software and hardware, the Department of Management Information Systems combines software knowledge with business expertise. By understanding the expectations of both businesses and consumers, our department develops automation solutions that enhance productivity and align with corporate strategies. Business knowledge plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of these solutions; this is why many computer engineers pursue MBA degrees after their undergraduate studies.
Our department is supported by a qualified team that includes 2 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, and 1 research assistant working full-time, along with part-time faculty members from the industry. We offer nearly 40 elective courses, and students are also allowed to take electives from the Department of Computer Engineering upon request.
The areas of expertise among our faculty include software development, network systems, cyber security, Linux operating systems, digital marketing, customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), e-commerce, web programming, mobile application development, database management, entrepreneurship, business management and organization, strategic management, and blockchain technologies.
Thanks to strong industry collaborations, we offer our students internship opportunities with a variety of IT firms, as well as with Medicana Health Group and Fenerbahçe Sports Club. Our graduates are in high demand in Turkey and internationally, helping to bridge the talent gap in the field of informatics. Salaries vary depending on specialization, and many of our alumni also pursue entrepreneurial ventures supported by the skills and experiences gained in our program.
