Drug treatment is one of the most preferred and effective treatment methods among a myriad applied for the health problems experienced by humankind. Although the drugs used during treatment are effective for restoring and maintaining health and healthy living, they may lead to some side effects or complications. Therefore, the use of drugs in the correct manner, dosage, and time is vital to have the highest efficiency in drug treatment.
Clinical pharmacy is a field of science that covers optimizing a patient’s medication management and providing various patient care services. This includes patient education aimed at preventing disease, maintaining health, and treating existing conditions. In addition to inpatient services in hospitals, clinical pharmacy services can be offered in outpatient clinics, family health centers, nursing homes, home care health services, and community pharmacies, in short, anywhere there is a patient using medicine.
Our program, in which only the graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy are accepted, aims to train qualified specialist pharmacists in order to disseminate the clinical pharmacy approach in our country and to ensure the rational use of drugs.
The objectives of the Clinical Pharmacy master's education are to initiate drug treatments suitable for the health problems that are present in patients but have not yet started drug treatment, monitor drugs applied during the treatment period in terms of side effects, complications or unexpected effects, to inform and advise patients about drug use, to train healthcare professionals about rational drug use, and to determine the most appropriate and effective drug treatment plan for the patient's health status together with the clinical team. In line with these objectives, case and academic studies are included.
