Department of Computer Engineering Chair Prof. Dr. Serhan Yarkan Elected as IEEE Turkey Secretary General

Prof. Dr. Serhan Yarkan, Chair of the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of our university, has been elected Secretary General following the IEEE Turkey Board of Directors elections.

IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is one of the most respected international professional organizations in the fields of engineering, technology, and science worldwide. Its Turkish branch also provides a strong platform for interaction among academia, industry, and the public sector. The role of IEEE Turkey Secretary General carries critical responsibilities related to organizational coordination, strategic planning, corporate communication, and the organization of national and international events.

Prof. Dr. Serhan Yarkan has been actively involved in IEEE for many years through his academic studies, international projects, and active participation in professional communities. He has particularly stood out for his work supporting the professional development of young engineers and researchers. Prof. Dr. Yarkan, who also founded the IEEE Turkey Fenerbahçe University Student Club, is expected to make significant contributions during his new term by strengthening academic industry collaborations, increasing the effectiveness of student clubs, and enhancing IEEE Turkey’s international visibility.
