The 1st National Congress on New Trends in Communication, organized by the Fenerbahçe University Faculty of Communication, was held on June 10, 2026, with the participation of academics, researchers, and postgraduate students.
The Honorary Presidency of the congress was undertaken by the Rector of Fenerbahçe University, Prof. Dr. Fatma Kanca; the Congress Presidency by the Dean of Fenerbahçe University Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Rukiye Gülay Öztürk; and the Chairmanship of the Organizing Committee by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hikmet Tosyalı.
The program commenced with the opening session held in Hall 513, B Block of Fenerbahçe University. The opening program was attended by Fenerbahçe University Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Kanca, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Rukiye Gülay Öztürk, vice-rectors, deans, academic and administrative executives, and numerous academics. During the opening speeches, the role of the communication field in the digital transformation process, the importance of academic production, and the contributions of interdisciplinary studies to communication research were discussed.
Among the invited speakers of the congress were Prof. Dr. Edibe Sözen, Rector of Maltepe University and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Press Advertising Agency; Prof. Dr. Elgiz Yılmaz, Head of the Department of Communication at Galatasaray University; and Ulaş Bozan, Founder of The Zero Point Project & Co-Founder of Party Tech. The invited speakers shared their evaluations regarding current transformations in the communication field, digitalization processes, and the new media ecosystem with the participants.
In the sessions held in the afternoon, academics and researchers from different universities presented their work, finding the opportunity to discuss current research in the field of communication. In the paper presentations held in various classrooms of the university, many current topics such as artificial intelligence, digital media, brand communication, public relations, social media, consumer behavior, digital culture, and media studies were addressed.
The congress, where scientific sharing and academic interaction came to the fore, brought together researchers working in the field of communication and laid the groundwork for scientific discussions. Attracting intense interest from the participants, the event not only made the current trends in communication studies visible but also made a significant contribution to young researchers in sharing their work.
The 1st National Congress on New Trends in Communication, organized by Fenerbahçe University Faculty of Communication, was successfully completed with its highly academic papers, expert speakers in their fields, and a broad profile of participants.
