In the 2025-2026 Spring semester at our university, 5 social responsibility projects were carried out with the participation of 79 of our students under the 'CEP301 Social Responsibility Project' course, which encourages students to take responsibility toward society. In the projects conducted under the consultancy and coordination of 6 academic staff members, studies were carried out in different areas such as environmental sustainability, recycling, prevention of food waste, support for stray animals, social awareness regarding individuals with disabilities, and improvement of living spaces for disadvantaged groups.
Within the scope of the social responsibility project carried out under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Çaloğlu Büyükselçuk and Lecturer Hatice Yılmaz, students supported painting and renovation works carried out in cooperation with the Alzheimer's Association of Turkey. Within the scope of the event, various areas were renovated, contributing to the improvement of living environments. The project aimed to strengthen students' sense of social solidarity and increase awareness of social responsibility.
Within the scope of the 'Not Waste, Let It Be Food!' project, carried out under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Esra Pelin Güregen Dereboyu, various events were organized to reduce food waste, promote sustainable consumption habits, and create social awareness regarding the feeding of stray animals. As part of the project, students obtained information on animal nutrition from veterinarian İnci Şahin Oktay and Pawfoody representatives, while food prepared through practical activities was delivered to needy stray animals, aiming to strengthen the awareness of sustainability and social responsibility.
Within the scope of the 'One Waste, A Thousand Hopes' project, carried out under the supervision of Lecturer Atakan Karagöz, stand events and information activities were organized at Fenerbahçe University to raise awareness about sustainability and recycling. As part of the project, while students were informed about recycling, water, and energy conservation, it was aimed to spread eco-friendly living habits through digital brochures, hands-on workshop activities, and awareness materials.
Within the scope of the 'A Step Towards Empathy' project, carried out under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hale Öksüz Üçkayabaşı, various events were organized to draw attention to the difficulties faced by individuals with disabilities in daily life and to create social awareness. Within the project, while participants found the opportunity to develop empathy by taking part in practices similar to the experiences of individuals with disabilities, informational studies were carried out regarding the importance of the equal and active participation of individuals with disabilities in social life.
Within the scope of the 'Seed Piggy Bank' project, carried out under the supervision of Lecturer Berfu Özdemir, various events were organized to build environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living habits by reintroducing fruit and vegetable seeds back into nature. Within the scope of the project, while participants were informed about the processes of separating, storing, and reintroducing seeds to nature, it was aimed to raise awareness regarding the utilization of organic waste and the protection of biological diversity through hands-on seed ball preparation activities.
