Fenerbahçe University hosted the ROBO-PERT Sumo Robot Competition on April 8. Organized in collaboration with the Center for Cyberspace Studies Application and Research (SAÇUAM), the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and the Artificial Intelligence Student Club, the event brought students together in a competitive sumo robot challenge. Providing a platform where theoretical knowledge is put into practice, the event allowed engineering students to demonstrate their technical skills while gaining experience in teamwork.
A total of 36 students from the Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Management Information Systems departments, forming 12 teams, participated in the competition. After completing comprehensive C programming and robotics training sessions prior to the event, students had the opportunity to test the algorithms they developed in the sumo ring. The robots’ strategic moves and endurance were followed with great interest by the audience. The competition, which saw high student participation, highlighted not only technical expertise but also problem-solving skills.
Through events like this, our university aims to continue its work in the fields of cybersecurity and robotics. At the end of the competition, awards were presented to the top-performing teams, EMA, Lightning95, and Optimus. The event marked an important milestone in supporting students’ adaptation to future technologies. We would like to thank all academic staff for their contributions, as well as our students whose energy enriched the event.
