As part of the preparation camp for the 20th Mediterranean Games, which will be held in Taranto, Italy, from August 21 to September 3, 2026, three members of our Department of Coaching Education at the Faculty of Sport Sciences received national team assignments.
The first phase of the camp was held from July 9 to 31, while the second phase took place from August 3 to 28. Asst. Prof. Dr. Taylan H. Balcıoğlu, a faculty member in our department and Director of the Sports Development and Athletic Performance Board of the Turkish Karate Federation, served as Athletic Performance Director. Research Assistant İrem Özlevent, a member of the department’s academic staff and the Sports Development and Athletic Performance Board, served as Sports Dietitian. Our undergraduate student Abdulkadir Gerekli was appointed by the Turkish Karate Federation as an Athletic Performance Coach for the Senior Karate A National Team camp upon the recommendation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Taylan H. Balcıoğlu.
