Architecture and Design Faculty Orientation Days Held

The Architecture and Design Faculty Orientation Days were held on October 7-8, 2025, in two separate sessions for new and current students. Our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Derya OKTAY, welcomed students at the opening of the event and shared her vision for the faculty's future.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. OKTAY inspired students with these words: "You have all stepped into the magical world of design. Throughout this journey, you will design not only buildings or spaces, but also living environments and the future". She emphasized that the faculty has the power to transform our environment through its Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Environmental Design departments, and reminded students of the great responsibility this entails.

Highlighting the faculty’s new vision to create a more participatory, environmentally conscious, and technology-integrated academic environment, Prof. Dr. OKTAY stated, “Our faculty supports education with the contributions of academics with national and international experience and experienced architects”, underlining the diversity and dynamism of the faculty. Addressing the students directly, she encouraged them to “be open to learning, curious, and responsible individuals. We must work together with enthusiasm, determination, and a commitment to excellence to further elevate our faculty”. She concluded by expressing her hope that the new academic year would be inspiring, productive, and successful for everyone.

Following the speech by our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Derya OKTAY, the Chair of the Architecture Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya SOYDAŞ ÇAKIR, and the Chair of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, Prof. Dr. Elif SÖNMEZ, warmly welcomed the students and introduced the academic staff of their respective departments. Both department chairs sincerely wished their students a successful academic year.

Afterwards, our Head Librarian, Belgin ÇETİN, provided students with an overview of library resources and guidance on how to use them effectively. She highlighted the opportunities offered by the library website and introduced reference materials useful for research and projects, particularly in the fields of architecture, interior design, and environmental design. The orientation event concluded with a library tour and on-site information sessions led by Ms. ÇETİN.
