The event titled ‘Digital and Online Life-Writing’, organized by the Department of English Language and Literature at Fenerbahçe University, was held in English on January 16, 2026, at 14:00 in Room 412, Block B. Hosted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Serhat Uyurkulak, the event featured talks by Yahya Özel, Founder and CEO of Reflect Agency, and Kübra Akdoğan, Lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages at Fenerbahçe University, who addressed topics such as digital identity, performative authenticity, and parasocial relationships.

With the participation of students and faculty members, the event explored the continuities and differences between digital sharing and traditional media and life-writing practices. Discussions also focused on the role of opaque algorithms, which often highlight consumable emotions, as active editors not only in delivering content to audiences but also in its creation. In addition, the social capital dimension of social media within the attention economy, self-media enabled by simultaneous writing, and trends based on visible authenticity were examined.
