The Faculty of Architecture and Design held a seminar titled “From Competition to Application: Merzifon Business and Life Center” with high attendance at the Blue Hall of F Block.

The seminar featured architect Dr. Burak Mangut, founder of Mangut Architecture Studio, as the guest speaker. Mangut presented the Merzifon Business and Life Center project, which won first prize in the architectural design competition organized by the Merzifon Municipality in 2017 under the auspices of the Turkish Chamber of Architects and Engineers (TMMOB) and was implemented in 2021.

During the seminar, Dr. Mangut shared the design and implementation stages of the project with participants. He explained in detail how the project was developed based on a location-focused design principle and a sensitive approach to the building’s urban context and natural environment, including climate conditions. He also emphasized the use of local materials and cost-effective solutions throughout the process.

The seminar attracted strong interest from faculty members and students and concluded with remarks by Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Prof. Dr. Oktay expressed her appreciation for the guest speaker’s sustainability-oriented approach and presented him with a certificate of appreciation.
