Fenerbahçe University Students Achieve Outstanding Success at NASA Space Apps!

The HexaBits team, composed of Fenerbahçe University students, achieved outstanding success by winning second place at the Akşehir location of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025, one of the world’s largest international hackathon events.

With their project titled “A World Away: Hunting for Exoplanets with AI”, the team developed an intelligent system that uses artificial intelligence to analyze data from NASA’s TESS satellite and identify potentially habitable planets.

Utilizing Python, TensorFlow, Flask, and SQL Server technologies, the team built a deep learning model that achieved a 78% accuracy rate. The system is designed to accelerate researchers’ efforts in discovering new exoplanets.
